EMERALD NECKLACE FEASIBILITY & IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

Planning for regional recreation and alternative transportation linkages.
The Emerald Necklace is a 17-mile interconnected network of bikeways, multi-use trails, parks, and greenways along the Rio Hondo and the San Gabriel Rivers, extending from Peck Road Water Conservation Park in the north to Whittier Narrows Regional Park in the south. The project was a phased feasibility study which ranks and describes potential projects along the Emerald Necklace within the LA County right-of-ways. The joint venture team of Withers & Sandgren and BlueGreen Consulting developed and refined the first 16 of 44 projects for review by the regulatory agencies. Extensive outreach included cities, agencies and community groups for input and project selection for further development.
